There's nothing like trying to find an XP spot only to have a 60 druid show up and teleport on top of you and start dotting you.

Or a delevelled rog shows up with a literal raid behind him to keep him buffed and healed and runed so that you cannot even touch him, and his raid is out of level range, so you can't touch them, either.
This is not an accurate representation of Red and that bug you speak of doesn't happen much. I leveled 3 characters there, across different eras. Never had this kind of issue, especially that ridiculous thing about a de-leveled rogue with a raid behind him. A raid might be passing through a certain area together, but they weren't actively going to random zones with everyone and sitting around on a low level character to kill a random lowbie. The level 60 druid thing, you would have to be at least level 56 for them to hit you. Which is normal PvP. You definitely wouldn't be getting tracked down constantly or anything like that, unless you were in a hated guild or did something awful that would make someone want to do that to you.

Boring or not is not the metric involved. Successfully killing raid targets is the metric called out, and red has a sever lacking in this.

Oh, that explains why you have no idea what's going on.
No the server isn't lacking in that. Raids were constantly happening even when the population dipped down. Again, north ToV is hardly the only raid to do in the game.

You're the one who doesn't seem to have any idea what's going on, when did you play the server? It hasn't been that long since I last popped in to play and there's no reason things would suddenly be completely different. The population tracker for the server shows enough are logging on for a raid and at this point in the server's lifespan there's not going to be griefers just sitting around everywhere doing nothing but going after helpless individuals, as you've tried to twist the narrative.

"Playing the game" is not supposed to be sitting in 1 spot like a fucking potato. The danger of possible PvP makes you pay attention to your surroundings more, yes. So what? That makes the game more interesting and is what the game is supposed to actually be like. Unless you're in spot that's popularly contested, then you really won't see hardly any PvP anyway. You get to level faster and have tons of camps available, it easily offsets the very occasional time you might have to actually move if you don't want to engage in PvP.

Please stop posting. It's obvious you don't know what the environment is like. Your arguments are all hypothetical and not applicable to the red99 server.

Yeah for real. This guy started playing in 2011, admits he doesn't play anymore, yet is trying to comment on the current existing state of the server? Very odd.

I know exactly what the environment is like, you're the one who doesn't, writing incorrect statements because you have some kind of chip on your shoulder. Like I said, I played red99 across many eras, and the last time wasn't that long ago.

The current state of the red server isn't going to be different than it was 2 years ago, aside from actually having a bit more of a population now, because of covid.

No matter how many players help you start, there are still players who's only goal is to grief you off the server. You will eventually hit a wall with your character and quit due to lack of viable XP.

I've been there.

They track you non-stop. You cannot hide behind anon or roleplay because there's a bug that briefly shows your location while you log in or zone, and these people are unrelenting. They tie /who all macros to their movement keys and use gina triggers and bots to catch you out, and when they do, the only choice is to log out.

The griefers are real.

Yeah, that's the way of EQ PvP and always has been. No matter what picture these red trolls try to paint (settling disputes outside the UN, more xp, more raid mobs, more dynamic or fun or interesting gameplay) the main thing they all actually like is griefing. Its the primary draw to EQ PvP and it always drives players away. Here on P99 you don't have enough constant playerbase influx like during the height of the live game, so the griefers eventually cull the server's ability to repopulate, resulting in a dead server.

There's underdog status, and then there's facing off against a delevelled rogue with a 60 druid, 60 chanter, and more following him around to make sure he's guaranteed to win. Underdog implies you have a chance, no matter small... There is no chance for victory against conditions like these on red.
It's okay if we have different playstyles and you don't enjoy the pvp in EQ. But, like... are you listening to yourselves? Most EverQuest players I know like to pride themselves on the difficulty of the game (compared to more modern MMOs). The xp loss from pve death, harsh corpse runs, relative power of NPCs compared to players. Reading over these posts though you all sound so beaten down and defeated.

EverQuest isn't really all that hard in reality, but you make the pvp experience out to be practically impossible and not even worth attempting. I leveled my druid in Kunark era up to mid 50s with anon off the entire time, as a super casual player with shit gear. Sometimes I died and sometimes I managed to get kills. That's life, lol. If you die you lns and head to a different zone to continue your little EQ life. Always things to do [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Give yourselves some credit. You could make it np on red if you wanted to. And it's okay that you don't want to.

That's because it IS impossible to kill a delevelled rogue twink being chain runed by a 60 enchanter and chain healed by a 60 druid...

It's impossible to kill sand giants as an untwinked level 10 nobody, too. The devs still designed them to wander around newbie zones.

I don't see you giving up over that. You're not as weak as you make yourself out to be.

I suppose I don't know which sort of merges would be best for everyone.

All I know for certain is that we need more pvp on the p99 servers. Please make this happen devs.

Red is Dead. That tells you everything you need to know about how the vast majority of players regard PVP. Every character you create on every server starts with a book in their inventory that will flag you for PVP. Practically everyone deletes it out of hand, and an NPC is provided in newbie areas to unflag you if you made a mistake.

We. Don't. Care.

They said that it will merge but they’re not sure exactly when. Obviously they have to reach final Velious patch and I would assume they would then keep things going for a few months after that. So maybe sometime in the first few months of 2023? You’ve got quite awhile so I would level another char if that’s what you’re debating.

Also, who cares if it merges to blue. The fun is in playing. A merge shouldn’t stop you from making another char and enjoying Norrath.
