On the surface this seems like a joke, but the internet really does have to change. Not so much for the sake of hate speech, but for propaganda and misinformation. Regulation of speech is a step in the right direction.

The internet cannot be a place where bad actors get to spread lies to all the word's gullible idiots like we've seen since 2016 or so

I agree but then who gets to decide what's true and what isn't? Can you say online that you think the novel coronavirus started in the novel coronavirus lab in Wuhan or is that a lie because China and WHO said its from a pangolin?

Tough to answer but I think a good place to start is news channels can no longer report on Twitter. Every other story nowadays goes like, "But many people are upset over STORY X. PERSON A had this to say on Twitter, "blah blah." PERSON B said this, "bs."

Its an easy and lazy way for news outlets to paint the story the way they want it to and its total crap.
