Rise of Zek strayed from what they set out to be originally. It is completely different niche server at this point. If people like it good for them but it isn't something that people from Project 1999 or others who enjoy classic Everquest are going to like.

I played roz briefly. I didnt really have any friends to play with and didn't totally agree with the direction of the box but it was pretty decent i think it was a success. This time I am starting out with a guild and will have allies that are (hopefully) mature and resolute i'm looking forward to giving it a shot. I don't play anything atm i'm so invovled in rl I don't even know how I will pull this off hehe.

some people are just tired of classic-velious content

emu pvp been around since 2008 and has never gone past velious so its a nice change.

i support all pvp servers tho in hopes one gets a good population

It just takes out most of the good stuff with EQ unfortunately. I assume it was to fix the low population problem but that in turn just alienates more people and hurts the population more. If you want a good pve game with instances there is a lot of competition. There isn't a classic-kunark EQ pvp option out there right now so pretty much any new box is going to be able to get some attention.

This is the misconception people have with instancing and its not your fault. It sounds stupid for a pvp server at first but pvp servers mainly die because 1 guild cockblocks everything and the opposition slowly dies out not being able to progress. Even people leveling up in the #2 guild see them getting killed and quit leveling half way because they see them just getting shit on and sounding frustrated in discord comms.

With AoC( instance raid content only) on a 3 to 4 week lockout timer or so the #2 or #3 or #4 guild could do naggy at least once a month and still be somewhat competitive/have fun being able to progress and still want to try for the open world content since its spawning every week.

This also helps the server have more than 2 guilds ( like every pvp server ends up having) you are not forced to play with people you don't like because lack of #s or whatever the reason is and those smaller guilds could ally instead of merging for open world content( if a guild is zerging) still and go back to fighting each other after the open world target dies.

sorry for the long rant just trying to explain the reasons behind it.
