I think its in the video somewhere... the interviewee states that people are unable to come to sensible conclusions anymore, despite a wealth of facts or evidence that's put before them. That's where the media can come in and clear up any grey areas... depending which brand of news you want to hear you can put yourself in one camp or the other - divisions form where there was once relative peace and each side bounces off each other until there's an explosion.

Progress to some is like regression to others, again... tune in to find out what your news brand is saying on that.

Personally I've seen the BBC (very left) manipulate pictures of riots in London to cut out the part of a photo where a protestor has a machete raised in the air against the police, and I've seen some fairly bad misinformation going around Facebook and other news sources from both sides. Where once there was trust in the media, everyone is now either forced to filter through the bullshit in hopes of landing at the truth... or they give up the quest and watch Netflix/Twitch/etc.

All the fire arms you could possibly have on your side and then some didnt stop the ATF from killing every woman and child in the WACO compound.

Guns are certanly not going to protect anyone from any hostile government take-over, and even less so anymore.

I dont think people understand that to kill someone in combat, the average amount of bullets it takes is about 60,000.. 60,000 bullets to kill one person, in combat. I saw some youtube videos talking about an insurgency and how they want to take out power stations and all this shit. How if they use guerilla warfare they can overcome anyone, all this delusional shit. I guess they dont know about thermal vision, night vision, satellites, spy planes, special forces. So naturally with a diverse student background you're not going to see much in the way of patriotism because international students and any BAME (I hate the term) students aren't going to identify with it.

I do think that the interview has merit though in the sense that people can't draw conclusions anymore because there's a wide gap between "fact" and the need to tell a story to influence the minds of anyone watching/reading/listening.

I personally think the reason there is so much misinformation to filter through is because the access people have to supplyhing it.

Turning on the TV or looking at the internet, even on the top news outlets, is tentamount to walking down the street in the old days when people were just standing on a box yelling about whatever random idea they had.

We have to sift through everyone's crazy ideas, even on the top 5 news networks, it's all just become glorified soap box ranting.

Like, to me the news has become more like what I imagine a prophet in the old days would be like, than what I would define as journalism.
