@ Strifer: I don't have any proof / documentation, but I was playing on the Agnarr progression server when the shit hit the fan. No, they didn't disable all quest exp for a month; what they did was even worse... they nerfed all quest experience by a factor of about 90% forever and ever, amen.
Why did this happen? Well, as Rogean insinuated, players cheesed the mechanics to the point of exploit, blasting out (high) levels as soon as the expansion dropped in a variety of ways. But the worst offense only became possible because in their infinite wisdom, the live game devs over the years made it possible to hand in literally thousands of quests at once. (Quest items could be handed in in stacks, and stack sizes were increased to 1000 for tradeskill items. Red wine, fire beetle eyes and bonechips are all tradeskill items on live, in case you didn't know.) So it became possible to hand in 1000, or even 4000 quests at once. The side effect of this situation was that newb toons couldn't even get hold of a bone chip or fire beetle eye in certain locations because level 50+ pet classes were clearing every spawn the moment it spawned. Sure, this mass quest turn-in scenario doesn't apply to us on p99, but the equivalent power gamer exploit phenomenon is "why we can't have nice things." At least for us it's only one month and not forever. Personally, I would have laughed if the other live server solution had been implemented: corpse wipe with expac drop. But on p99, that would just have created a million petitions for lost inventory. And our devs / moderators don't deserve that kind of grief. They work hard and we owe them thanks for that.

Guys were trying to game the system and got got themselves. Time to move on(with the game or with your lives if you can't handle the P99 admin decisions). And that's just the way it is, in all its brutal cruelty. Sorry to be the messenger.

I can deal with the admin decisions, and even respect them. I just find that while of course this is to deter the folks who no-life camped hundreds, if not thousands of quest turnins... I think that the way it was gone about was rather poorly done. Most of what I could see was a bulletpoint on a rather large list of patch notes, and I would also imagine that while many of us see the board often as denizens of RnF, there is also hundreds of people that had no idea until turn-ins were eaten and went to report a possible bug in their eyes. Most of the information I have been able to gather has been from secondary sources, and im sure the more casual side of the server wouldn't normally be able to see that either. Even logging in, I would imagine that something as large as eliminating an entire EXP source for the entire server for a month would garner at least a message on the MOTD saying something along the lines of .."Please note that quest experience has been disabled for 30 days to allow fair races to level 60" which would make complete sense, but nothing is there and acting as if nothing is different. I'm willing to concede that this server has non-classic policies in place in order to suit the server admins vision and will continue to do so going forward. I do hope that at the very least they make these types of decisions going forward better communicated so that there isn't as much confusion as to why. I've seen posts from server staff when making changes to the raid scene, it would be beneficial for the server as a whole to have that happen as well for larger, temporary changes like this too.

Necromancy is unnatural but bone chips are real and part of a natural process.

Gotta say I'm kind of surprised to see so many people in this thread that regard quest xp as a somehow illegitimate form of leveling.
Like, sure, dumping a truckload of bones onto a dwarf to become powerful is an innately funny thing to imagine. But I always just thought that was part of the charm of playing a 20 year old MMO. Yall pick some strange places to draw the line.

The bread quest was classic.
This gluten inorlant nerf is offensive to bread eaters everywhere "Bread quest has been replaced with free-range gluten-free low-fat non-GMO flatbread quest"
