I am also curious about druid animal lulls. My assumption is that they, too, are cha-based

Yeah I guess I don't need to add any more to the above; every time I log in there's people farming my test targets and I already cast Lull 1500 times so enough of that.

I think the takeaway here is that if you're a cleric trying to Lull on a professional basis, your CHA had better be kissing up to the top of the range. My cleric is human and I was able to scrape up +102 CHA without too much problem, so I'm good.

Posting final numbers here.

Level 20 Cleric casting Lull on lv 35 target. Total casts 1500, target resisted every time. The list below shows CHA level, the percentage of critical resists, followed by raw numbers for total resists/crits. The lower ranges only have a 100 samples so those numbers probably have a much wider variance.
  • 70 cha 54% crit (100/54)
  • 100 cha 38% crit (100/38)
  • 130 cha 27% crit (100/27)
  • 160 cha 15.25% crit (400/61)
  • 190 cha 11% crit (200/22)
  • 200 cha 7.25% crit (400/29)*
  • 220 cha 7% crit (200/14)

* Note: I made a mistake on the 200 level. Prior posts showed 400 resists and 28 crits and I listed the percentage as 9%, when it should have been 7%. I checked and it was actually 29 crits, so 7.25% rate. This means that the 200 and 220 results are functionally identical, so the benefit of going over the cap is not significant from these tests.

Wow thanks for doing this! I didn't realize charisma had much of a part to play in critical resists of Lull. I'm sure glad I have my Golden Locket to make me that much more charming!

Your dedication to repeatedly casting lull and zoning in the name of science is truly inspiring. I think i got bored/ was rdy to kill myself after 600 much less 1500!

Seriously very cool!

So going CHA at character creation isn't that bad of an idea? I've seen it suggested fairly often in posts and or optimal min/max spreadsheets.
