I seperated a machine from my work network and put a wifi stick in and leech off the pub next doors free wifi. Its JUUUUST close enough that the wifi comes through my window and around my desk.

Works nicely.

Interesting. So then you essentially have two computers and two monitors? One which is hooked up with the wifi stick to one of the monitors, and then the other which is your work hard drive and hooked up to the second monitor?

Or are you saying you play and work on the same machine and your employer just doesn't notice that you're using a machine they have no ability to monitor?

I thought this was easy. He took a computer, prolly one nobody was using, or was forgotten, and off the books somehow, and uses that. He most likely removed whatever software made it able to connect to their intranet in order to cover his ass. It would be the same as if he took his laptop from home and played eq on it. That being said, as much as I love EQ if I was his boss I would make him formally apologize to all the staff for wasting their time with his work practices in order to keep his job.

Shout out to all the air traffic controllers who quickly alt-tab from EQ to their radar screen whenever the supervisor walks by!

How do you do it if you play on your work computers and on your work network?

Do your employers just not monitor and/or don't give a shit?

Or do you have some way to mask the activity?
My employer blocks all ports not strictly necessary for work. Furthermore all network activity is logged and monitored. I submitted a request for a Verizon Jetpack hotspot and a laptop purchased and delivered to me directly thus bypassing corporate inventory controls and also bloatware and monitoring software install. The reason was that "I need to mimic the customer experience using consumer-grade network access and hardware in order to be able to replicate any reported trouble conditions, without those tests being affected by any corporate network or hardware restrictions."

My employer only cares about quality work on time and I've proved I can deliver that, so when I say I need something they don't ask questions as long as the reason is coherent.
