theres a state funded "virology lab" at like every university dingus, and coronavirus is a sweeping huge category which includes the common cold & mokst other upper respiratory virii.

Well that's it for the alcohol-based hand sanitizers. I should have snagged the last couple yesterday, cause today it's all gone.

Other things either gone or flying off the shelves: Canned meats. Anything with bleach in it. Paper towels, any paper goods really. Bottled water. The couple in front of me had an $805 bill - I've been shopping in that market 30 years never saw an order that size. This is in New Jersey with no confirmed cases and no state of emergency and also no confirmed cases in NYC next door. The panic is spreading at 10x the rate the virus is. Gas is next. Expect super long lines, people be in Walmart and Autozone buying up all the gas cans. | ||

That is the realm of full on irrational panic buying.
It's fine to be stocked up, but that's silly. Not really sure why there would be a run on gas considering how much of that is automated and there really shouldn't be a virus scenario where gas deliveries to stations stop and refineries are completely disabled, but I suppose that's just how people are. | ||
