Lol seriously? It’s game-breaking for paladins to have high level weapons through a quest that can be done by a level 1 sneaking rogue. No one is suggesting it’s game breaking for the rogue...other than the money they could earn at level one selling it.

Oh, ok, good. There are a lot of noobish questions lately. Glad to know yours is NOT one of them. Anyway.

Are the quest and item classic?

You don't need a rogue to 'bug' the quest. A lvl 1 paladin could do it if he's careful. You just hail lock the lady on the island until she drops it. I did it at lvl 22 on my paladin but it was suggested to me by a paladin who completed it at lvl 1.

So, based on this, the wiki is wrong on how it works? Wiki says you have to keep them alive for 10-15 minutes.

Can the NPC survive that long on their own? Or do you need to kite like a previous poster mentioned?

I'm actually impressed on how creative folks get for rewards.

Yeah, I'm totally confused here too.

Not really. Damage caps are a thing for melee. Paladins arent going to be doing any super impressive solo feats due to them having this weapon early on.

This isn’t blue, guys. The whole point of green is a classic progression. If everyone can obtain items almost BiS before planes, it ruins the experience.

As a paladin, I don’t want to already have a weapon almost as good as mithril two hander when people are still using rusty and combine weapons. If you can’t see this is stupid then what is the point of a fresh green server.

...In classic, this quest didn't work....so you just had to go up to the NPC and say a phrase and she would drop the weapon. Here you gotta actually do it.

It isn't something any willy nilly paladin can go just pick up. People have theorized how I done did it, but I not gonna tell.

It was very clever though, perhaps the most noble and clever gnome solution to ever be accomplished!!! Using a deep knowledge of the ocean....and a long time exploring....to find just the perfect mix of a plan to achieve great deeds of nobleness.

If you don't want to use this weapon, don't! I mean, seriously. Pretend you weren't aware of the quest and just progress how you want.

It's literally that simple. This is a classic quest that is working as intended. Also, damage caps are a thing. Honestly, I doubt your group would even notice if you were using a forged weapon vs. this.
