I don't think they understand optics (or anything, for that matter - it's really a failure of our education system and parenting that people have ended up in Trump's cult).

This is where cognitive dissonance takes place. Trump quotes polls and won the election. You are quoting polls that turned out to be consistently incorrect and lost the election but polled they were going to win by a landslide. The article above explains why that could of happened.
