He may very well give stuff away to appear a good guy once he has enough plat... but I GUARANTEE you that is AFTER he has acquired a very marketable skill and he will go on to make thousands of plat from it. His helpers will get none of that.

In the end, his laborers will get free banded... and he will be rich because he will outpace all other armorers on the server. At least, that's his plan.

I think humans are complex, and people can do things that are both nice and self-beneficial. But I also 100% agree that all the truly nice/generous people I know, both in-game and in the forum, would never have a Trump-like reaction when someone attacks them.

I don't know who OP is or whether he's a truly benevolent person or not. The attacks certainly suggest otherwise. But really it doesn't matter: as long as he doesn't mislead anyone (eg. ask for help and then not make "free" banded as promised), he's still taking actions that are more helpful to others than 95+% of the server, however self-motivated they may be.

I guess it's not really free if I have to front the materials (which are actually quite expensive if you're just starting out and you have literally no means of support from high-level characters), but I suppose it's much better than having to pay 1 - 2 plat per AC. I'd take that deal.

The set has a ton of pieces (13), and if you're going for the full set, you can probably expect to pay over 30 plat for the mats. That's a substantial amount of money for an early toon and it'll take many players days to get there. Leveling will be slow and brutal with the amount of competition for mobs we can expect to see at launch, and low level mobs drop items that often sell for a few copper (or occasionally 1 - 2g if you're lucky).

"Free banded on day one" ain't gonna happen unless OP has some way of paying for the mats as well.

I belive he just means the player mantained wait list for the camp that civilized players will maintain.

Blacksmithing is not that expensive, but still do not know where the plat is going to come from on day 1. After cracked staffs, the only way to generate tons of plat is camps like nybright, sisters, gargoyles. There is no GLS quest, And players will not be buying your drops on day 1 for any significant amount. You're not going to get those few cash camps, insane competition.

You would probably need dozens of characters feeding you rusty weapons, cloth armor, and cracked staffs to fuel a blacksmith to banded armor levels.

Also wracking my head to figure out your secret plat tactic. Outside of dervishes / Nybright / elementals / wisps, I'm not sure how to be rolling in the plat on day 1 when you're probably under level 10.
