Immigration has destroyed the bottom end of the entire construction industry in the same way automation did to manufacturing. When people distill the argument down to “Mexicans only clean houses and pick vegetables” you lose a lot of the nuance and therefore ignore the complains of the vast majority of people who’s lives are negatively affected by that.

Roofers, deck builders, landscapers and other semi-skilled but non red-seal trades commonly make $20/hour in countries that have tight controls on their immigration. That has a huge effect on the overall economy

There's no moral argument for being 'for' illegal immigration, just a fools argument that doesn't understand logistics and practicality.

Morality and money though. I struggled with this when taking a position on Amazon in NY. By what logic is Jeff Bezos owed tax breaks and not the little guy trying to start a humble business? I've had a hard time taking a position on this one because in a practical sense it's great for tax payers and home owners and people looking for good jobs in the area. In another sense I can't reconcile while rich AF Jeff Bezos is owed a tax break and no business people that are struggling.
