what era are we talking about here? a well-disciplined medieval euro force would wreck a Roman Legion. discipline and tech were what the legion had. they were armed with little weak ass short bows and short range javelins. their cavalry was also notoriously garbo, pre-stirrup, and so high tech Euro heavy cavalry would crush any mobility their forces had and leave them a big ole fat useless lump of sweaty swearing Italians. any post-crossbow or longbow Euro force with discipline outclasses a legion bigly.

obviously the legion was dominant fer its day tho, thats just a trueism .
