Couple of theories:

1) Buzzfeed totally made up the sources and story.

2) Someone deep and trusted is a Trump supporter and fed Buzzfeed bad info, knowing they wouldn't be revealed as a source because outing a source when they want to be anon is a death sentence for a journalist.
