Depending on what the resist system is, shamans will either be very powerful or awful. Don't think I ever saw a shaman kill someone once on SZ during Kunark/Velious or during PoP. They were pretty powerful on TZVZ though.

Even if your dots landed every time, a lot of people just take off for the hills running to go bandage or hit gate as soon as they see the icon come up. There are also cure potions, don't remember how many levels of poison they cured per cast in this time period though.

Shaman is probably the most wild card class that exists for choosing on a PvP server, especially an EMU one. You might end up more powerful than a druid, you might end up worse than one.
