Could always have all mobs hit for 4x their normal melee damage.
This would make sure the server isn't flooded by items as risk vs reward would be different (closer to classic actually!). Also make some key mobs unsoloable (Hadden and such) or simply very rare pop. Unclassic gameplay changes for a (more) classic experience. Nightmare mode. Call it P99 Black. | ||

Problem with the OP's idea is not that its bad its simply that:
1: The same people that think running back and forth on a pathing error to avoid fighting mobs will still be playing. Green server will screwed pretty quickly just like this one was. Without a classic PnP, without the traditional guild disbands by GM's, without proper banning for repeat stupidity, the server will be just as unpleasant because of a small number of people who like to be knobs. | ||

The virgin white knights in this thread are disgusting. Getting mad at some nerd for day dreaming about his EQ wet dream because he isn't paying enough respect to these devs you idolize? Fuck off.
The devs know people want a new server. The only excuse left is the Chardok revamp. We will see if that really is the reason nothing has happened with a new server. If nothing ever happens it is probably because the people in charge don't feel like spending the time on it. Nothing you can do about that. What is Rogean's reason for making this server in the first place? I would hope it leads to something substantial that he can sell some day or use to help his career. Maybe he is working on a deal from Daybreak, etc. Making big moves for the enjoyment of the player base sounds logical but not if the player base isn't his main concern. If I was him the player base wouldn't be my main concern. I would be happy 1000+ people are logging in and try to get the server as close to classic as I can to try to monetize it some how. It would be nice if Daybreak purchased Project1999 one day and let Rogean run it. | ||

I think the original 'why' really was just because it is a thing we all loved, and thought should be preserved/recreated. But yeah, it's always good if something that can benefit them personally in some other way comes out of it, they've put a lot of work in. If we had to count on pure altruism in life we'd be in a sorry state.
