I think you are more to blame for it than the rest of the group, but they are still to blame for not communicating more with you and telling you to stop. The tank said "let the chanter train down" and that they wanted to keep killing mobs in the disco. For whatever reason you just kept at it instead. Chanters are more than capable of lulling down to the disco ent and beyond.
