I have been provided so many free SoW, clarity, other buffs and corpse recoveries along the way I certainly have no problem providing players free ports and though I may accept tips as a lower level character I would never require payment.

As a wizard this is the one thing I can do to assist other players and I am happy to do it to give back to the community.
Pras em

Today I met a young mage who saved my ass from a corrupted cyclops and his three buddies by providing me a lev ring as I kited around the island. He refused my tips. There are still heroes out there folks

I wanna see the maths where a guy decided that since a port costs X amount of mana, and he has X amount of mana, and it takes him XX amount of time to meditate that mana back, that his time has an actual platinum value to it

That was interesting.

Time is money.

Porting takes up someone else's time and someone else's mana that could otherwise be used to earn them xp and coin.

Getting ported saves me time getting me to my objective ... which is a destination that usually involves me getting xp and coin.

I donate on the higher end ... and every plat spent pays for itself 5-10 fold in time saved running across zones and waiting on boats.

Plat in this game isn't that hard to come by. Maybe for the true true noob who has never seen EQ ever and this is their first experience. Those are the people most of us pay, Port and gear if we have it on us at least I do.

But if you geared to the nines , anon and green to my level 45 then there is expectation to pay.

Because like Troxx said I'm cutting down hours of running or boating for you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Agreed, and as I shit posted in another thread, but think it's worth saying, I feel server vets have a responsibity to pay and overpay porters regularly so that when a noob, or someone on a cr, needs some free help, the porter feels more generous with their time.

I guess this is a form of socialism Sim

Actually I think the value comes in the time saved by quickly getting from point A to point B. Hell even if you have to wait 10 mins for the dru/wiz to med up it still saves a lot of in game time. Possibly enough time for sometime to claim a camp spot/spawn. I mean that is the reason I take a plane to LA from NY and not my car.

I don't think Zabs has ever demanded plats for ports, maybe on TL's if they take off without tipping ill say "not cool dude" only cause it costs me plats to TL someone.
