I've also been having this issue for a while now. I absolutely dread zoning. Considered rerolling a FD class just so I would not have to zone bad pulls and trains.

On Wed night this week our solb group was trained, I died. Rather than crashing though my machine completely locks up forcing a reboot. The frequency of reboots has caused major hard drive issues to the point that I couldn't even load my operating system any more.

Really hope this gets fixed. I love the community here but its getting harder and harder to justify spending half my play time just restarting my comp and being IP locked from the server.

Default Progressive Crashing

I currently have the same problem but ive had it since I started playing the emulator which hasn't been long. now it's progressed to when I try to log on it started with me warping across the zone and it would spam, Large warp detected, so I petitioned the problem and was directed to the forums to download the wineq2 only that doesnt work and now when I try to log on I have to pray that it allows me to without crashing

Any new fixes for this? I'm crashing 50% of the time when zoning, becoming kind of nightmarish.

This used to happen to me all the time on another emu. I fixed it by completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but making sure I had my anti virus turned off when I reinstalled. EQ actually gives a warning about virus checkers but I ignored it and for once it actually backfired on me.

I figured I would chime in on this as well since I am also having this issue....Ironically I had this very same (zone freeze/crash) issue when I was playing on EQ live back in 2000 with my dial up connection...after hours of tech support with SONY (back then) and some trials here it basically comes down to the fact that the game itself is very picky/sensitive...that being said...there is not ONE universal fix that will erase this problem...but a series of different options that may solve it...

1. Firewall...the main cause of the problem is internet connection...all your firewall needs to do is indiscriminately block one small piece and the game will seize up...so making sure it complete bypasses your firewall (or just turn it off during play) seems to be a good start.
2. Going along with the internet...if your connection is slow or a lot of people use up bandwidth on your network then you will be more prone to crashes...the game requires an almost uninterrupted wide internet connection...again...going back to it being picky.
3. I have not tried winEQ yet but it might work for some...also, starting at the basics and reinstalling the game with virus software and other major software turned off (the game is even picky during installs and always has been).
4. If you are going to play...devote your computer to just the game...running many different applications in the background increases the risk of crashes since you run the changes of stealing just the right amount of bandwidth and just the right second which will cause a crash.

I hope these suggestions help some of you...also...the less advanced your computer the better....you do not need an Alienware M14x running at top speed to run this game...remember we are playing the 1999-2001 graphics version...I run the game on my Dell 1012 mini 1.6ghz atom core, 1gb ram, SSD HD,an integrated graphics card, on windows XP...win XP is the simplest system and keeps the amount of "effects" in the background down so they will not interrupt EQs dealings....so if you have an old comp laying around in the basement from 6 years ago....maybe use that as your dedicated EQ comp...

The bottom line is...even SOE admits the game can be relatively unstable and you need to just try and mitigate it the best as possible (most of us should know this from days past when the game bugged out at times)...I remember them telling me how much effort went into combating bugs so all I can say is just take these suggestions and give them a whirl...and I hope this helps some of you/including my own issuse (although I am currently in a country whoes bandwidth will NOT get better so I really won't know for sure until I back home on my own high speed network). Good luck!

Solid info.

When I was using my Motorola Atrix to hotspot and play i would encounter this about 75% of the time. If the Packets being sent and received encounter any interrupter.. pewwww crash.

Now however, on cable internet ( slow cable like 250kb/s ) I can run EQ, Pandora, and Steam with no issues.

Some more information:

Windows 7 64 bit, Geforce 9500, 8 gigs ram, eqgame.exe executable patched for more then 4gigs although it was hanging before the patch.

I run using the launcher of the startup page here which loads it on a single core.

I never had a zone hang while running in windowed mode. All my zone hangs happen usually around nektulous and in full screen. I can zone around CT, guk, fearrot, ro, fp, ec, wc all day without hanging otherwise in full screen. dbg.txt may not be relavent, i think its actually errors from a server crash later.
