This guy gets it^

@ Swish = I haven't played in quite some time so wiping both servers would have zero impact on me. Scrub them both for all I care and make one teams & other PVE both with proper timeline but as stated many times - there'd probably be too many melt downs/suicides when their pixels are gone.
Heck, as they say - even bad publicity is still publicity!

If anything, splitting blue would double the population.

Don't feel bad for them, man. They griefed all the new players off their own server....back in 2014/2015 with their deleveled epic rogues, rangers and warriors, and more recently with (after level requirements were put on epics) their deleveled TOV-geared toons.
That's not an exaggeration, the only thing I would add is it went on in 2016 as well. One of these people can and will shut down a dungeon for as long as they feel like. Then they come here trying to get people to join the server.

There's a difference between Player vs Player and Godmode vs Gnat.

The issue with Red99 isn't ganks or pvp. It's the fact the world is incredibly empty and it feels like you're playing a Single Player MMO. Yes, you will kill bosses [some of them at least since the top guild can't kill Vulak / Vyemm / AoW etc., atm, hence this thread], and yes you will get loot. Ultimately, however, it all feels hallow as you're guilded with 95% of the players on a two digit pop server. People come by to check it out occasionally, but it's a revolving door. I do recommend Red99 to people though who are solely interest in getting a quick Velious Raid fix to re-experience raids, which is about all that Red99 is good for at the moment.

I agree, Red99 is the most social of any servers I have ever played EQ on.
People are a lot more likely to group due to XP bonus and a chance of PVP brings groups/guilds closer together.

EZ server has 4 times the population and does the same thing with no ganks from the those who get off on Schadenfreude. One could advertise Red99 to the whole world in sky writing but no one with any sense would log in and/or would leave shortly after; due to what it is. Countless threads here proving it countless times.

Red should have a temporary moratorium for PvP to get new players to roll on the server. Turn off PvP for a week or two but leave the XP bonuses in place. Either that or simply permanently disable PvP entirely until level 30. The latter might honestly be better. There's basically zero competitive sub-30 PvP on Red at this point anyway (meaning PvP between relatively equally geared players). Disable low level PvP and you'd at least encourage a steady flow of new players to give Red a try. Even better, you might encourage a guild or two to move over en masse, which is really what the server needs (and it continues to perplex me that no Blue guild has attempted it since TMO given the abysmal state of raiding on Blue). A solid, dedicated core group of 8-10 people could make huge gains on Red relatively quickly even without help from existing Red players.

Red will always suck at this point and the lure of free loot is actually the root of the problem. On blue, when you have all that cool loot you can park your Tesla in the EC tunnel and get the ooo's and ahhh's and you get that feeling of cool accomplishment that so many of us chase in our day to day lives with the cars we drive, clothes we wear, etc. On red everyone is driving the same luxury car as you, lives in a 7 BR house and has the same designer clothes as you. Any feeling of accomplishment is fleeting as you have no one to show off your cool pixels to.

Since you don't actually need any of this loot to kill mobs, and there are almost no other players who aren't guilded with you to use them on in PvP, you burn out quickly and quit after experiencing a couple months of uncontested raiding. It's the same pattern in most MMO's nowadays with the difference being they have new content to bring people back every several months. Only someone with severe mental illness will raid the exact same mobs uncontested for years on end.
mostly inaccurate. the death rate for all spawns on the blue server will always outnumber that on red. you dont say the population is lower? but this isnt Empire anymore, the leadership decided they wouldnt tolerate people lacking social skills and the ability to play respecfully in order siphon pixels for themselves. And the bottom line isnt your pixel or luxury car because well know that won't buy you happiness and enjoyment, its the journey and struggles you undertake and overcome. That's better on red and you know it.

I played on red when i was camping my VP key, got two toons to about 30.

One memory that sticks with me was when a group and myself were in Kuns. All of us wrre fresh out the box with no twinkage and all of a sudden two twinks appeared and tried for some easy text. We managed to fend them off, even killed one. However when twink #2 was repelled a second time it was joyous. Our group continued, xp was had. Until twink #2 came back on his level 60 and proceeded to kill everything in kurns. Then it sucked, it sucked a lot.

Another memory is a guy i ran into with damn near kunark bis on his warrior leveling at graveyard in mm. He told me the best way to get plat, and this is what he did: for three years he had been killing level 15 mobs in the swamp of no hope for gems. 3 years!!!

I refuse to stay level 15 for 3 years or contend with twinks/assholes for virtually the same experience i hav on blue99. At least the twinks on blue dont try to smash my group's cleric into 50000 fucking pieces

There was fun had in group settings and its always like thunder waiting to crack when we saw another pvpable geoup, but inevtably i ran into too many griefers for me to enjoyably play the server

If you can clear 30-35 the fungi twinks disappear from your pvp level range. Not that there's many/any that still log in anymore.

Most recently my bard leveled through MM, don't think he saw any fungi twinks turn up, honestly.
