Not speed-hacking, just manipulating frame rates. Basically a few things are determined by your frame rate in this game, most notably levitate mechanics, mouse-turn speed, how high you jump out of water, and fall speed. The higher your FPS, the slower you fall, slower you turn, and the slower you lose height while levitating. When you jump, you get a boost straight ahead of your character. AFAIK, you also lose forward speed the longer you are airborne. When you alt-tab out of the game, your FPS in the client drops pretty low.

The fabled alt-tab jump works by jumping to gain forward speed, alt tab out while airborne to fall faster to minimize de-acceleration, then tab back in before you land to continue running at full speed.

You can also manipulate your frame rate to prevent fall damage (if you click levitate while airborne at around 100fps, you can actually get stuck in the air for a bit), as well as being able to stay levitated very high in the air without falling much. Frame-rate manipulation can be used to climb walls while levitating through cleverly timed alt tabs.

I think most of the above is common knowledge to people who have played on various titanium or pre-titanium EQ clients though.

You guys in Awakened are sick. Cheating at all costs. I was wondering why Hjial's videos always had what looked like alt+tab screen pop while jumping in his races and others didn't when I watched them.

Awakened being proven to be big time cheaters on this server it seems lately. Hjial seems to be a pretty big cheater in several instances.

The idea that casuals can compete with FTE racing if they just put in the time then is shot to bits.
We arent playing Call of Duty. Having to do all that crap , actually tabbing out of the client to desktop and back each jump , to have a chance at an FTE when the lines busy is just too much lol. Im sure this is what Rogean wanted on his classic server...

It says any run speed greater than SoW. That causes run speed greater than SoW.

No, that sentence covers "movement speed buffs" as in spirit of cheetah or scale of wolf instead of SoW. Alt+tab jumping isn't a buff, it's a manipulation of FPS which it says nothing about. Also says nothing about crown of rule jumping, nothing about using lev rings to toggle lev for different spots. It also says nothing about using screen sharing to track.

I'm not condoning the tactic, I'm just pointing out that none of it is covered but awakened just got popped for it, and everyone knows both A/A entities are doing all that shit. Smells fishy.

Fewer rules and clarifications are better. Instead of scouring rules for loopholes and thinking, "can I get away with this?" people will more often question, "will I get banned for this?" It causes the mind to doubt one's own actions rather than how to legitimize them. Keep rules simple. Keep penalties stiff. Keep people questioning ^^

Usual Chest response. I have no skin in this game anymore. However, I watched the fraps of the races and there was only one person using that trick in their fraps. It was Hjial.

Jumping - without alt tab (and at 60fps)- is faster than SoW. You could run the game at around 10~ FPS and get the same benefit if you really wanted to.

Not condoning the use of alt-tab jumping, just explaining how the client works.
