To target yourself, press F1.

If you presss F1 again, after this, you will target your pet - or an eye.

hehe no. But I think Necros are much better in a duo with a shaman or solo with undead charm than soloing with a pet. Just my opinion. If I was working on a BIS necro I'd have a dwarf ring for sure, I just don't feel like that item alone makes the class.
