It's actually not. Its a couple hundred people with 90% of them in 2 or 3 different zones level syncing (mentoring) to grind the same mobs day in and day out until they're high enough level to play FTE on the best raid mobs.

It's a really generic and uninspired version of EQ for Japanese people.

That said, I do have a couple chars there and still prefer it to any modern MMOs.

ok, so starting off I have to be war monk thief black mage white mage or red mage? I am reading this Getting Started.
Right. So if I were going to be a ranger, i'd level thief to 18, unlock subjobs (thats like multiclassing), switch to warrior/thief and get warrior to 37, then unlock ranger. That way ive got warrior as a subjob already leveled, thief gets treasure hunter at 15 (increases the liklihood of drops) for farming, and then level ranger. you can do whatever, and you might wanna mess around with a few different jobs to see how they work

Also, a subjob can never effectively exceed half of your main job level. So say you've got warrior leveled to 37 and ranger leveled to 14. if you go ranger/warrior, you'd be a level 14 ranger with the abilities and stat bonuses of a lvl 7 warrior in addition to what a 14 ranger already has, even though your actual warior level is 37. Once ranger got to 16, you'd be ranger 16/ warrior 8 ect

Ok so the standard jobs (warrior, monk, thief, red mage, white mage, black mage) are the ones you can start as. An advanced job is one that you have to unlock by completing specific quests, which require level 30 to get.

Performance wise, a mithra would do better with ranger, and theyre also more balanced stat wise, so you wouldnt be gimped if you were to level a different job later on. Tarutaru are great with magic, but severely gimped when it comes to melee stuff because of their stats. They have decent agility, so they can make competent rangers

Though that's not to say that you couldnt do well with any job as any race given the right equipment and abilities as a player. One of the best white mages I partied with in retail was a galka, who are designed for tanking and melee DD

think you have to get to level 30 then you can unlock the "advanced" ones. If I recall correctly your character can level up all jobs. You choose which you want to be your main when you in town and then choose a sub job that can never be more than half the level of your main job, but you only level up your main job at any time...

So like if you want an advanced job, you have to level up a basic one to level 30, then get the advanced one and level it up (on the same character).
