Few days ago Turkey was saying they wanted to normalize relations with Assad's regime in Syria. Seems like that might've been the tipping point.

When you say Turkey you need to specify who is talking otherwise you will misinform people here.

There have been 3 factions operating unilaterally in Turkey since Ergohan.

You can't say "Turkey was saying" without qualifying which branch was talking. They aren't like the USA, they don't and have never had a unified government politically.

Ergohan has never spoken of unity, and has never claimed to speak for the military, for example. He also doesn't speak for the forces that work with ISIS, he has always referred to them as sovereign forces in the language that he uses in his addresses and speeches.
