http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182112464228
bought one of these to fiddle with. AM toying with puttign a pci card into it to improve the limited graphics on my old laptop. Not sure its worth it tbh. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATI-FireMV...d/111912927802 this sort of card backwardly compatible? Not sure if ive got a pci card luirking in a drawer somewhere.....def got some agp cards from 10yrs+ ! ANy decent pci cards will be rather expensive?! (will have to be low profile, which limits the choice)

Too bad you dont live in US. Best Buy was giving 50 bucks for any working laptop. Coulda taken that and saved up another 100 and got a laptop with probably 4x the power of your "old laptop". But to answer your question not sure if its backwards compatible or if its even worth it.

Perhaps take a differnt route? bit expensive though....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PCI1PEX1-S...d/121889025993 might fit ? this seem to have right slot/interface.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-ATI-Ra...-/271848549734 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-nVIDIA...d/252352064267 (too large)

This is hardly a great idea. Any money spent on this route is money wasted. You're talking about a 33mhz PCI as being an upgrade? Save up 200-300 quid and get yourself a low end current model laptop. EQ doesn't take much to run. Sounds like your laptop is at least 10 years old or more?
You can get one used on whatever flavor classifieds you like in the states for around $150 US | ||

not economically viable. just wont use the laptop enough. when i bought the laptop (dell latitude D510) I didnt realise it had no expansion slot for graphics card. FIrst laptop ive owned and i assumed they all had expansion slots....dont know what year that became standard? imo a pci slot will have enuff bandwith, we both know that eq doesnt have many 3d effects, no would i bother turniong them on. however memory on the graphics card does affect the dimensions of the window, the screen size. also would like the graphics work to be done outside the laptop case....there is an overheating issue atmo. this laptop uses 2gb ddr2 ram and it seems to run too hot for the case to cope with....am not clear but think the gpu is using 8mb (!) of this memory to do its work. Perhaps someone know which model of dell is the oldest and cheapest laptop with an expansion slot? that would be somethign i can weigh up too.

Laptops don't have expansion slots for graphics cards.......And if they do you'll be hard pressed to find an affordable solution.
