If your only goal right now is to gear up, the most effective way to do it is to farm any of the following items/places:

Crushbone belts/pads to sell to other players
Deathfist belts/scalps to other players
Sisters in Lfay for bronze weapons to sell not far off to vendor for raw cash
Wisps in commons/karanas (10p per greater lightstone) - gives xp at your level

Doing any of the aforementioned and selling the proceeds will net you cash and buy you more potent upgrades exponentially faster than trying to collect individual items. Getting cash AND xp at the same time is actually easier from levels 5-16 (maybe up to 18) than it is to get cash AND xp at any other level range other than well past your low to mid 40s ... and most of this cash comes from selling items to other high level players that are loaded.

If your goal is only to xp naturally and acquire drops as they roll in .. then disregard.

When I was new to this server, starting at gfay/crushbone range (5-6) up to level 17 I managed to farm a full set of fine plate, 2 5ac/55hp rings, and 2 very good for level weapons, and 2 good instruments on my bard by using this route. Until my low to mid 40s when I quested my own Lambent, I didn't really need to focus at all on gearing/farming as the gear was overkill powerful.

The blessing of having a server as old and bloated as this is that low to medium range gear is very cheap and earning cash is very easy.

Is Korgoth the name of your paladin? By level 60 standards I'm by no means rich but I'd be happy to give you a leg-up wherever possible.

Thank you for your reply Lartanin. You are giving me information on topic, instead of a grocery list of high level items i should go buy... and then a series of arguments about what should be on the list.

I am in fact, looking for drops. Not purchases.

Many people, myself included, have leveled up in cloth, bronze, and looted their own gear along the way. Check out this thread I made way back for suggestions:

I am a returning player after stopping in 1999. I now have a level 12 Dwarven paladin, but a lot has changed in 17 years.
I need some sound advise about gearing my paladin.
I have managed to collect a full set of small bronze for my brave dwarf, what should be my next goal?
I dont have tons of plat, and only an enchanter for an alt.
That being said, where can i go for armor next? Is there a small armor drop that is a step up from bronze?
A drop would be best for me.
I read here that bronze is good until 30's.
What can i look for to upgrade next?
Thanks from a returning player.
Fine plate is really nice to start, even if it's just visible pcs and spend the plats on nice everything else. That dyed plate can look real nice, fairly lite, good AC. Then focus on getting some nice rings, earrings, weapons, fill in armor etc. I don't like bronze, too heavy for the AC I get out of it.

Whatever lvl your alt is, it's not too hard to make some plats to gear up your tank for a good start. Tanks are rather gear dependent, and you want to do a decent job in groups, so the sacrifice is either spending a lot of time pursuing gear drops and plat farming (which sort of sucks at lower levels) while maybe leveling slower, or use a higher level char to use for gearing.

Player made. No, it's not expensive, in the 1k range for a full set. I'd recommend finding a smith friend, get a custom order in, maybe they have dye available too. I see auctions at EC sometimes, but not all the time. You can also price pcs off the p99 wiki to give you an idea of individual pcs you may want. Then there is a color chart on the blacksmithing page, link at the bottom of that page, though some dye is harder to get than others.

ps sorry if my previous post failed to make sense, fixed the edit, listening to breaking news and trying to type hehe.

Looks like this:

Of course different race being DE SK. Same color as hero bracers, or nearly, you can see a slight more color on them. Then I just mix nice items in, like hero bracers, black sapphire platinum necklace, different sets of earrings and rings, stat food, lots of booze hehe etc etc. Efficient.

I'm of the opinion, that Paladins should strictly go with fine plate only if its NON dyed.

That silver look on a holy warrior is so classic!
