the amount of total zones is irrelevant because the majority of them are never used. the argument that more zones spreads the playerbase out is a bit misleading, because the majority of top end players will still congregate in the same zones where the current content is.

to be honest, newer expansions tend to herd the playerbase into an ever smaller area as newer expacs tend to have fewer and fewer zones.

you didn't play here in classic. none of those zones were relevant after the first 4 weeks of the server. for pvp you ported LS and checked sol b, then ported sro and checked lower guk. rarely you'd check CT real quick to see if someone was farming rubi bp, but they could typically camp out before you ever got to them so it wasn't as great a spot.
