However I agree they should have the option not to receive any help with anything, ever, thereby I support their right to not require a man to live day to day life if they so choose. Although I would need to research this much more to form a final opinion. I feel that perhaps the Middle East is just trying to preserve what comes natural, through Sharia, and what not.

This is how most Catholics live in adulthood as well, they don't "choose" a different faith, but they intelligently decide that the Church is a bit dated and doesn't fully align with the real world environment of today. I feel this is Islam's biggest problem, a cultural/religious movement or revolution of sorts per say needs to take place. Christianity had many many reformations and so-called revolutions even the Reformation which destroyed and dispelled many Dark Ages ideas and Church nonsense. Has Islam had any such History of reformation from within as Christianity has with the Catholic Church? I do not know much about the history as most colleges do not offer such courses at a high level unless you specifically seek out such studies at a specific University. Will buy you lifetime beers if you can introduce us to some of your Persian lady friends. Caught the fever and in love w/ the Farsi accent. Americanized Persians are really pretty but seems the princess complex comes with the package, I can deal though!

The Quran and Hadith are like the Old Testament. They are nothing like the New Testament.
Regardless, people have a right in democracies to voice their opinions. Is turkey giving Armenia back its land? Are the Yazidis and Christians going to be promised a state in Iraq and Syria? Are the Kurds going to stop getting bombed by every nation trying to hold their land? Will Sharia be modified to allow women to have recourse when they are raped? Christianity and post Christian agnostic/atheist western civ are not even close to the cultures that predominate in the Middle East. If you can't see that, I can't help you. PS: no shit not all Muslims are terrorists. That doesn't mean people can't ask questions such as: what advantage does large scale Islamic immigration confer upon the host countries? I'm serious, I'd love to hear what you, as a Muslim, would say to that. It's pretty sad when even my family, religious Shias from rural Iran, are beginning to question their faith. I believe in God in what I would call a devout fashion. I am extremely wary, however, of those who claim to speak for him. In addition, god's law has no place in the laws of a nation-state. When you choose a religion, it's a conviction that's deeply personal. I do my obligatory prayers 9 times a day, I fast a couple days a year to make my mother happy, and I have NEVER, in my life, passed judgment upon a person for not holding my beliefs. However, when Christians and Yazidis are being exterminated by Sunnis and NO ONE in the Islamic world is doing two shits about it, please don't expect me to listen to your arguments about "tolerance this" and "generalization that." Live by your own supposed code of tolerance that is identical to Christianity and then none of us will have a problem. I mean seriously, are you outraged that people in France are pissed about taking millions of Algerians and in return those same people shoot up 150 people? Your ire should be directed at your own who taint your holy Quran, rather than the rational people who abhor violence done in the name of a God, which though I believe in, cannot be logically proven to exist. I DO NOT HATE YOU because you are Muslim or middle eastern. It simply makes me tremendously sad that the region where western civilization arguably started has no capacity for introspection and critical self analysis that could lead to positive change. In short, to every Muslim: live by this code of tolerance that you want all the rest of us to apply to you and none of us would have this problem. God Bless and insh'allah we'll all stop killing each other over inane bull shit

This is just so fucking sad. I got stuck last night cause they closed the subway. Apparently 3 suicide bombers @ stade de france failed, they blew up too early, i cant even imagine had they set off when the 80k folks were done watching the football game and came out.
this is just the saddest day since ww2 for us. It will give more rooms for extremism. It gives me nausea.

A lot of correct things have been said from both sides of the discussion. Now what I'm missing everytime things like these gappen is an important muslim preacher standing up and explaining that people killing innocents do not fulfil the works of the prophet.
If it's true that there is no such thing as a commandment to kill infidels, which I am ready to Accept, there should be someone pointing this out to the believers. Maybe the muslims are lacking some kind of pope interpreting the scriptures for everyone. But then again the existing pope also failed to call out the holocaust when it happened.
