First off, I am crazy bored at work today. Tomorrow will be an insane work-load, but today, it's just mind numbing. With the hurricane coming up the east coast, and all these rains, the day is particularly sleepy. The lack of work is making me drowsy.

I am limited for food options in my town as well. Aside from fast food, we have Wawa (which is like a in n out one-stop shop type place that sells hoagies and soups) and just hoards of pizza shops. The lack of variety is lame. Last couple weeks, I've just been slapping together some sandwiches with home grown vegetables from my garden.

Most of the time, however, I wake up too late to make myself any lunch in the morning.

Going with Taste of Asia today. Good ole reliable Sweet & Sour Chicken. Chicken Fried Rice, no veggies, extra egg - always an outstanding option though. lucky for me there is literally about everything you could ever imagine within a reasonable distance of my office. Good lunch options can not be over rated enough.

TL;DR sucks to be Sirken

You have a microwave at work?

Not in this order, but:

When you are home make some spaghetti with pre-made meatballs from any supermarket. Dump some sauce in there, have a nice dinner with some left overs. Go to walmart, buy some cheap Tupperware, BAM! Lunch next day.

Make your own chili:

Get a nice big pot. 3lbs of ground beef (the leaner the better), 5 or 6 cans of Chili beans (not Hormell or Stagg) like Bush or Kroger. Get 3 or 4 cans of Kidney beans (drain them, DO NOT use the juice inside. Rinse them as well). 2 Large cans of Petite tomatoes like 24 or 32 oz (add juice and all).

Spices needed: Cumin, Chili powder and garlic salt. If you want you can add black pepper for some flavor as well.

Fresh veggies: 2 Large Onions. I like chopping them up but in big chunks. 10 Jalapeno or Serrano peppers. If you want big spice add Habeneros. Use either minced garlic or chop up your own.

I suggest you cook the ground beef before throwing ALL that stuff in the pot. Do not over cook it though because it's going to boil with all the other stuff.

When you first throw everything in the pot put the stove on 2 or 3 setting. Low....it takes a LONG time to heat up but if you try to heat it up fast you'll burn the bottom.

That is one of the best things I learned to make when single. I still make it today.

You can mix it up too and put can of whole tomatoes in. I like chunky chili, so all my veggies are large chunks.

Overall you'll spend about 2 hours on that chili project, but damn it's worth it.

Crackers and Tillamook Sharp Chedder Cheese on the side. I am freaking drooling right now and I just ate lunch.

EDIT: USE ALL THE JUICE from the chili beans. it is a must. Also stir it often. Like every 5 minutes for the first 30 to 45 mins, then every 15 mins after.

i don't think one of these exists yet, but realistically it should. and the fact that it doesn't, makes me sad. i can't be the only person bored at work, trying to look busy.

i need to find better food options though for real. my lunch options are currently limited to sandwiches from the gas station. my last job spoiled me, there were so many restaurants. Chinese place, a breakfast place, a bakers square, a hipster place with square plates. my worst option was Subway.

should start an event where everyone makes me lunch on a different day and the best one gets a mask IRL that they can call a guise of the deceiver :P

hows all the rest of your days going?
