I assume you all are talking about a situation where the animal is actually gonna fight to the death, otherwise a human will win by asserting dominance 99% of the time and an animal will back off.

As for asserting dominance, I really hope you're never at a place in your life where you think that is going to save you. Humans survive encounters in the wild with gorillas and chimps by doing the exact opposite and acting submissive.
