SS Helm is 10, Elder Beads cast in 4 seconds.

Stalking Probes however are instant.

There are plenty of times this is useful, I've used stalking probes on my Cleric and Druid to do pulls not possible without them. However the times when such pulls are necessary to do, are few.

It's like Daldaen when he posts in the solo artist challenge thread declaring he's using puppet string charges. Some people just use it because they can.

If it speeds things up in a raid situation I can't see the harm in it.

If you have the item and it helps you do your job, why wouldn't you use them? The contractor who worked on my house recently used nail guns to frame a wall. I'm sure he could have used his hammer instead, but I'm not paying him extra to make the job harder.
