The reason it got to be a ghost town is because of xp loss in pvp, youd have to be pretty blind and oh-im-a-manly-marlboro-man-i-take-xp-death-like-a-real-man person like Chewie not to see it.

I started here with nothing 6 months ago. Pop was around the same and I had no friends. Suck it up and get better. With the group make up you guys had, you should be downing twinks.

While it sucks you had a bad time OP, a pet combo of enc/necro/mag/druid or some variation would wreck most twinks and you would get plenty of XP and spell PP without needing pickup people. Kunark has almost no epic fungi twinks.

Unfortunately if you are starting in rags, your initial class choices are very important. And to make the most of your playtime, you need to plan and strategize to avoid being constantly killed by twinks

played my monk in rags from 1 to 59 without epic or fungus didn't die in pvp until lvl 52 when i engaged people at lvl 60 in kc (there was 8 level range back then)

pretty sure anyone with smarts can play to 60 without dying, putting yourself in the situation you explain is no one to blame but yourself

But who cares about your personal experience? It just means you had prior experience in EQ. Youre an EQ lifer who spent 4 years on VZTZ, good for you. That doesnt apply to everyone. Smedy is exactly the kind of person i was talking about that seems to be incapable of putting himself in other people's shoes. Me, me, me. Tried to get at someone who might or might not have been wheelchair bound by picking on his inability to stand up a walk. Kind of embodies a good chunk of the playerbase of red.

Not knowing the game inside out because you didnt dedicate most of your waking life for years to EQ makes you stupid. Ironically that was exactly Nizzar's attitude.
