God, I would love it if all these red threads would make the populations of the servers flip.

Sadly, I doubt more than a few trickle over, and most don't stay.

Will be interesting to see the populations of both servers when velious comes out. Not including the r99 head start of course.

And DAoC gear at lvl 50 is all the same across all classes.
Sounds like a pretty bad RPG, to be honest. I mean, character development(through skills, levels, gear, etc) is a pillar of the genre. I wouldn't play an RPG where the characters are homogenized to such a degree. I also don't require an even playing field.

Honestly, if you hate gear imbalance so much, why wouldn't you just play Street Fighter for your PvP fix?

It's a very one-dimensional perspective to think that a PvP MMORPG is bad because it's devoid of boilerplate PvE components like levels, gear, etc. The game was made to be largely focused on PvP combat. By injecting gear into the mix it detracts from the 'Player' part. A player that thinks, moves, strategizes.

DAoC at its highest competitive level focused on 8 versus 8 fights and strategy. Classes, positioning, timing, etc were all non-PvE factors that could change the tide of battle. If we were to inject game-changing items/gear into gameplay then it would dilute the human element.

Anyway, done with this silly thread. I said my part.

You must have never played DAoC, probably the best pvp in a game ive played. Skill, traits, and gear all mattered in pvp, and it was much harder to twink characters in low levels because they gear would actually become damaged and break if you were to low. Although, AoE mez was the bane of my existence there. Ill never forget those nights defending Hadrian's Wall.

In EQ, atleast sub 50 levels, there is nothing you can do against a twink character no matter how much skill you have. If youre a caster its far worse because a spell will never land. I have found that casters get the shortest end of the stick because of the way MR is set up and those pumices :/

Good move, bowing out and admitting defeat in the face of my superior logic.

Seriously though, you're not describing a more strategic experience. You're describing a game where the most important factors pursuant to victory are dexterity and latency. It's cookie-cutter shit. It's arcade shit. It's basically rock-paper-scissors. Personally, I prefer something more cerebral.
