First off, you do know that ostrich don't actually bury their heads in the sand (which I assume is the metaphor you are trying to make)? Here's a National Geographic for Kids page that explains it: http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/e...-myths-busted/

Actually, they pretty much did just that in the classic era. Back then if you wanted to box you needed two separate accounts (at $10 or whatever it was a month) plus two computers sitting next to each other, along with an internet connection with enough bandwidth to support them both (remember, this was back when dial-up was the most common form of internet access). Very few people had a setup like that back in '99.

What a lot of people did have (and what they think of when they remember boxing back then) was a program called EQW, which allowed you to run two EQ instances from a single computer. But that program was banned, which meant that boxing was banned for everyone who didn't have two computers (and two accounts, and a high-speed connection).
Lol we had that setup - the other PC was total garbage and we had a cleric F9'ed to topview it was so lagged out.

You would surely image a character that took a 30 say suspension would be kept under a watchful eye in case they decide to repeat offend?

The way I see it is people get ONE chance, perhaps in case they misunderstood the rules or whatever, and after that it is time to reroll.

The 30 day suspension followed by permaban for repeat offence seems like a good system to me.

Maybe, but a momentarily lapse in judgement is very human. As is forgiveness. But wisdom is in not forgetting.

I think giving a second chance shows integrity (although I suppose you could argue being allowed to reroll after a permaban is second chance enough).

the gm's tell them to go play their alts... how is that not tolerance.
you box your account gets deleted.. all of them.. its real simple.. or let everyone box
but what happens when you ban someone that is capable of boxing is they rage DDos the server i get it..
fear is why they let the boxers stay..
did the boxers fear them into keeping it a rule so that only they can keep doing it also?
don't pretend everyone is equal if you are pretending they all are but they are not.
