Eminem. If rap survives the recent drought, they will remember his lyricism.

What bands/musicians do I think will stand the test of time? Excluding classic composers like Wagner, Bach, etc. Who are the musical geniuses of the 20th and 21st centuries that will be listened to in the 22nd century and beyond? According to me

actually, Kagey, re-reading his question im realizing he may be referring to 1900-present(that is indeed the 20/21st century). This changes the scope quite a lot...

in addition to the previous,

Led Zeppeling
Pink Floyd
The Doors
Credence
Queen
Eagles
Bob Marley
Jimi Hendrix
Santana

basically a who's who of the 60s and 70s. This time period truly produced some of the most amazing music that will come out of this century, and indeed centuries to come. I think we are honestly seeing the death of actual instruments, and the birth of the computerized music. Most studio albums are not even made by instruments in studios. Its one dude making all the music on a computer and mixing and layering it all with the lyrics of some down syndrome fucking CK wearing pussy Biebler bitch slapped on top to sell it. There will be no more Jimmy Pages, John Frusciantes, or Terry Reids. The generation of the autotune is upon us.

Richard D. James will probably be one of the few legends of our era that leaves behind a legacy and whose fame will only grow after he's dead. Not a huge fan of his music or persona, though I love the Selected Ambient Works series.

Great answer. Almost all of EDM et al has this guy to thank for what he's done. Selected ambient works is pure electronic musical genius.

Otherwise the answer is, any musician/band/songwriter who becomes virtuous on his/her instrument or creation of music. There are many across many genres. Really depends on what you like!

Don't let big recording companies influence your taste.
