Thumbs up

I lost a whopping 50pp to this bug. Here's how!

I decide I'm going to sell a savant's cap at Kelethin bank.

Wessubba decides to buy it.

I load the item on my cursor and click on Wessubba several times, just as a violent lagstorm washes over the Greater Faydark zone.

I receive a busy message several times.

Wessubba is apparently attempting the same with his plat.

I get a trade message with Wessubba's 50 plat, which quickly disappears, due to Wessubba, I assume, cancelling the trade.

Wessubba relates to me that he did not receive the plat back upon cancelling the trade.

The lagstorm passes, and feeling mercy, I give Wessubba the savant's cap.

Wessubba /petitions and has not yet received a response after several days.

Unable to bear the senseless loss of the tragedy, I fling Judgement from Kelethin unceremoniously. A brief funeral is presided over by a pixie trickster.
The CR is uneventful.

Jesus appears with minimal fanfare in my office and slaps me on the back for my good deed, with a warm chuckle. In the process, an ingrown hair just below my chin is spontaneously healed.

I tried to trade with someone but misclicked and traded with someone else. Then I hit cancel soon after I put the 100 plat in the window. I then re-traded the 100 plat with the person I needed to but for some reason needed to cancel again (I'm not sure why, if you ask Gnada about the situation he might remember). After that when we tried re-trading I didn't have my 100 plat.

After two weeks of waiting for a reimbursement, and finally being at a level where 50pp is a much smaller chunk of change, I repaid the 50pp Judgement I owed him for the cap. I would like to point out that Judgement is on my list of wonderful people of p99 because of how gracious he was to a poor newb.

This happened to me 4 months ago or around there.
I opened trade with this person with 1kpp and I don't remember what I was buying but we both clicked accept at the same time and his item disappeared and my cash did too.

Cant prove any of it and I barely remember it, so I am not asking for any reimbursement or anything.

Just adding what I've experienced.

Don't think there's much can be done about it (especially at the moment) i've lost money to it before, and as a result i only ever open trade with someone when i'm buying someting with 1cp [You must be logged in to view images. This is quite a nice touch on classic as back then if you missed clicking on someone with your money you'd end up dropping it (as with items, no confirm box iirc) so i have to be extra careful [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

LoL this event suddenly surfaced in my memory recently and I sort of remember what happened now. Unfortunately I still cannot remember who this was.

I did open the trade but not with plat, with a Runed Cowl from lower guk.(I had been camping and selling them all week). We met up in EC tunnel at Shady. I click trade and he clicked trade, and lag commenses. For about 5 seconds the trade window just sat at a standstill both both of us already having accepted the trade.. we swapped a bit of dialogue back and forth regarding the confusion. After about 10 seconds or so I decided to back away from him (closing the trade). He did indeed get the Runed Cowl, but the plat disappeared. I sent a tell to a gm who was in game at the time, and he directed me to the forum. Since I am lazy and it wasn't a big issue at the time and 1kp had little to no value to me, I didn't make a post.

Not sure if that sort of describes the same issues other people have had.

I am still in no way asking for a reimbursement, thanks.

Bumping because this just happened to me. Didn't seem particularly laggy at the time - just clicked my whopping 75pp onto the Plat portion of the trade window, and BAM - trade window instantly disappears and it reports that "Malrubius cancelled the trade". 75pp was gone.

I will use Omni's 1cp trick from now on, but it's still a bug that could potentially cause someone a HUGE amount of pain.

Same thing happened to me with 1kpp that I was trading, I petitioned about it and was told "we are currently unaware of any bugs relating to this issue" ..

Have only had it happen once to some guy I was selling a deity to. We both tried to open trade at the same time I figure. (The 'interested in a trade' message popped up while I already had trade open with them.) I cancelled out of it because it was lagging when I tried to drop the doll into the window and it ate the poor guys pp.

If it is, there's an easy way to avoid this when making very large transactions for multiple items: do several trades at once and smurf the transaction (ie divide it into several micro transactions). That way the chance of a failure eating 10K and making you slit your wrists is ridiculously low.

Also, I think when making transactions of say, 5K or more, using a GM as a middle man would be an acceptable short term solution, provided the GM was willing. Both players could trade their money/items to the GM, and the GM could trade everything back to the opposite players, so that if a mistake happens, the GM can always fix it and verify that the transaction occurred.

I have a question - is there a way to actually recover lost plat (due to game logs verifying that a certain amount of platinum was deleted for no reason)? Thanks.
