I've been flirting with 1k AC on my paladin but i've never been beyond 950ac buffed. What's a good way to break 1k ac as a paladin other than wearing statless Deepwater?
I'm thinking a Djarns ring for the AGI. Any thoughts? http://wiki.project1999.com/Magelo_Blue:Haela

Platinum fire rings, silver jacinth ring (10 AC, -7 MR) and gem-encrusted ring are the three that would work for finger slot. That said, djarn's ring is better than those due to the HP, in my opinion

So what is the verdict here? Does AC matter? For years on this server I've been hearing mixed opinions such as...
- "Some raid mobs are not tuned properly and will hit for max damage no matter what your AC is at" - "AC soft cap is 1200" - "AC soft cap is 1000" - "AC is completely broken on this server so it doesn't matter, go for stats." If AC is so broken or caps at 1000 then why do end game raid tanks wear Cobalt Arms/Boots/Bracer/Helm when you can break 1000 AC without those pieces? Has anyone actually crunched numbers to test AC on the live server? I read through a thread on the Velious board about broken AC and it seemed a dev was activity trying to fix it but I'm not sure what the end result is at this current time...

I have found both on my Warrior and my Monk that AC really didn't make too much of a crap till 45ish. Then it DID matter in the 50's, not a ton, but it does make a difference on how Hard you get hit. But with Kunark gear and the soft cap having tons of AC on here is not even obtainable. Velious will change that though.
Even on live now you have to have a AC aug in every slot to see a huge difference. But the problem is every expansion the mobs hit harder and harder so you really don't gain crap unless you go to the old zones. [You must be logged in to view images. I found AC makes a big difference before 45 for warrior BUT you really don't need that much of it before it reaches maximum effectiveness. This means if you have even a moderate amount of AC to start with it will seem that AC doesn't do anything when you try to upgrade it. Once you are in your 40s though mob ATK starts to become at a parity to, or greater than, what players can achieve with AC (I suspect there may be by level caps on AC).
The best thing you can do is find mobs whose damage you can make a decent job of mitigating and fight them. Also, when people say a cap of 1000 AC is that the displayed figure, or is it 1000 AC from your worn equipment? cos 1000AC would mean something different in each instance.

the soft cap is referring to the display
worn AC is the hard cap and I think that caps at around 250 ish? 350? I think it depends on the class as well in terms of the hard cap.
