How many people play on red is irrelevant, if you're going to "force" a velious beta, you give p99 players no other choice but to play on the velious server. That's what forced beta implies.

Both servers need players, so it's honestly a brilliant decision. Most blue players have a strong enough aversion to red that they'll funnel into the beta, where they are needed. If it works out to increase red population as a side effect, that's only a good thing for the health of our servers.

Sure no one plays there, but they will when the actual server is down. Also being able to trade red plat for blue plat helps people feel like they are actually doing something worth their time.

Nah red needs to be shut down too.

Which server will the people boxing both pay more attention to:

1. The server where any Neckbeard can come up behind them AFK or medding looking into their spell book, kill them, take their plat, then brag about their yellow text increasing their kill-death ratio as though it took skill to PvP in EQ.
2. The server where your character will be wiped away in a few months, you have instant gate, corpse summon, and rez sticks. The server where you can immediately resummon a full set of gear on death negating the need for corpse runs. The server where you can teleport to any zone instantly.

It will just end up being anyone boxing the two not helping beta test at all since they won't be paying attention to that box much.

Shut down red for this so that everyone has their full attention on beta testing.
