you can engage in factional warfare effectively with 1 day of training, and participate in a pvp campaign with 10k active people fighting nonstop 24 hours a day.
with 1 week of training you can fly "Tackle" And if you pick a proper alliance get in some serious pvp , its just a difficult game and as a newcomer you don't know what to do don't be so fast to quit , its amazing. If its boring you aren't doing it right. | ||

Could never get in to Eve; my friend raved about it 20/7 mining bots this mining bots that etc etc.

Shit isn't even in alpha yet. Optimization always comes after. It really is kind of a spiritual successor to EVE though. EVE will continue to roll on, much like WoW has or EQ has.
All joking aside, EVE is right up there with EQ and WoW in the MMORPG genre in terms of influence. The scale of things are amazing - a single world, battles with literally thousands of people. I haven't played it but I have a hell of a lot of respect for what they've done in that game. I'll occasionally read the recaps posted on some of the gaming sites about how you can extrapolate real life dollars due to the game card to game currency trading. Some of those huge battles end up with tens of thousands of dollars worth of losses - pretty bad ass. | ||
