I have soloed both classes to 60, depending on how deep your pockets are Druid is going to be much easier and faster to level up as they are not really reliant on gear at all to solo, while shaman is eventually going to be very expensive to become a great soloer, JBB, epic, torpor. But with these items shaman does very well through the 50s and amazing at 60, though charm soloing was still faster on the Druid. So if you are newer to the server I would recommend the Druid since they can solo effectively with little gear and also a great class to make money with.
To be fair, shamans are a way better class for making money with than druids are. But yeah, they're also expensive.

Well, at like 30-50 porting is nice, but even 50-59 a shaman can easily do a bunch of camps that give way more money than porting, if he has epic. Although, druid PL money at higher levels is good too.

Hello,

When we talking about solo utility indoors, a shaman clearly beats a druid apart. When you soloing mobs that can summon you, torpor + slow + tank ability owns. Also the JBB and the Epic adds nice to your spells. Not to count torpor.

However, outdoors druids are better from my PoV. Ensnare, DoTs, ES Vambracers, 2 DoTS and the Lummy staff can go a long way. The 50's treeform is also very nice for mana regen when resting. I did a lot of the FM/TT cycle over and over with Mask of the Hunter on and the ocasional treeform, I had almost no downtime. Animal charm is also good if you can find any around. (Track nerf is shit tho). Problem is that druids have big troubles when soloing summoning monsters. Even when root + snare stack and you can start effectively using your epic DoT, summoning monster would be a 95% no-no.

In groups shaman are better than druids in most situations, just two words here: Slow and Torpor.

Hope this helps you.
Gav

A shaman is good after you drop like 150k into it.

A 60 shaman without an epic, JBB, torpor, and a few other spells is basically a Druid.

I would say try them both out. The Shaman won't start to shine until 34, whereas Druids are pretty fun once they hit 19.
