So, an update: I have a friend of mine who's more MineCraft savvy than I am, taking a look at the old world files and the new world files. On first glance, it appears that most of the old world was indeed transferred over. This would explain why my base and mine were complete. He says though that some of the files were incomplete or lost in the transfer, which would explain why some other players bases/stuff was gone or missing.
At this point, he is still examining whether or not the old world can be saved. If it can, I may re-upload it and bring everyone back to Sunday's progress point.
The other idea I am tossing around in my head is that I will do a fresh wipe and install (very minimal) mods. Such as some sort of anti-cheat (anti-xray), and base protection. I would still keep the server as vanilla as possible, but there would be new addons installed, and in this case, I think it would be fairest to start everyone back at square zero.
If you have been playing regularly for the last week and a half of the server uptime, I'd love your input in responses here or PM's. If the majority is in favor of a fresh wipe with new addons, we'll do that this evening.

That's fine, if you want to talk about time wasted you should see how many buckets worth of lava the kid dumped in my old base and in the surrounding chasm/caves/tunnels.

(Also do you realize how long it takes to dump lava?) I can dump 32 buckets of lava in about 45 seconds. Jus sayin. (Not taking away from the Relapse is obsessive argument)

When you are talking about taking as long as he did to do the equivalent of kicking over a sand castle, yes I'm going to call him out on it.
