Why do you need guild masters in a trading zone? Obviously EC is a better place to be levelling up and such, in a million different ways, but if we're talking purely about trade, most of that stuff is irrelevant. Easy to make an erudite for transfers, doesn't matter if there are real newbies leveling there if you're just trading items and plat. As far as no-port access, I disagree pretty strongly. Without ports you can get to Freeport by taking a boat or running half an hour from the Karanas through Highpass. Neither one of these is any more sensible than however the hell you get to Toxx. Ports needed either way.
Guildmasters for all classes just reinforce it as a area of high traffic.

Relying on mules is always a hassle unless you're two boxing.

Erudite and Qeynos have always seemed remote to be vast majority of popular content (mostly because of the absurd size of the Karanas). In vanilla, solb, najena, hhk,guk and CT always seemed be to a reasonable run from FP.

FP always seemed the most centrally located with banking for good and evil, and both porting and non-porting traveling options.

No

No one is ever going to steal your shit. No one in TMO, Bda, Taken etc is ever going to steal your shit. Getsome (leader of IB) had me transfer a 4k item one day because i was a halfling. a level 40 halfling unguilded. because he knew no ones going to steal your shit.

anyone in a real guild is not going to steal your shit, basically anyone 45+ wont either.

I was under the impression we were talking about live, specifically vanilla, and the origination of trading zones.

I don't recall vanilla being so heavily policed by GMs to prevent scams ( which we still regularly see happen in P99).

But when i do this i usually ask the person why they dont just have a mule in EC to hold all their stuff and they can't ever give a good answer lol. keep 500-1k in your bank for CR's, recharges and leave the rest on a Mule in EC.
Mule is a good idea, but it's such a pain in the ass sometimes to do all of that extra transferring and then they get encumbered and can't move. I've grown to hate my EC trader because every time I try to get something done on him it's always that terrible moment of dread where you send the other person a tell informing them you're weighed down and can't move and they have to come to you, and it's 50/50 if they're going to respond that they, too, are an encumbered mule who can't move and you've got a problem here

Use a L5 Bard for your mule Keke, a L5 Bard can always move (as you surely must know, lol.)

Also, gBay was obviously 10000x better than EC. It's what I got used to on Tunare in 1999, so anything else can't possibly be :classic: [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

EC tunnel is a pretty stupid place to trade, honestly. Someone in this thread mentioned that it's "two zones away from a good bank and an evil bank and one zone away from ports" and all that is true, except have you ever made the trip from EC tunnel to NFP or Neriak on an overencumbered character? It is so fucking far. Gfay made even less sense, so I'm not saying we were doing it right, just that EC is pretty bad.
"Evil" folks really traveled there to do business?

I think Toxx would be a better place to trade. It's smaller so it's easier to run across to get to good/evil cities, and the ports are completely right there.
Still, who the heck wants to go to Toxx... unless you're Erudite?

Yeah, it was insane. All these ogres and trolls cowering in the Gfay spires begging all of their friends to transfer their new Wurmslayer from the wood elf trader mule they'd made over to their main. Sad. Lots of invises gone wrong near the city, guards training all over the place.

And yeah, no one wants to go to Toxx. I happen to love that awful yellow haze that makes it hard to see anything even in the daytime!

Yes. Wolf form was readily available and made it possible for evils to bank.

Shady Swashbuckler should start a bank in the tunnel. He'd probably do quite well for himself.
