Obviously the equation approaches 0 error at a=255 because your original statement puts it at a 100% capture rate. There's no reason to expand that formula really unless maybe they're covering for their random generator being bad or something? Honestly I'm not sure what they're going for.

Astronautical is a subset of Aero that focuses mainly on speeds/conditions where the resistance of air has a substantial effect, where it can turn to plasma, and explosion flows and shock waves above Mach 1 where all the rules change. Basically rockets.
