![]() it seems the assholes outnumber the nice people on this server where on live it was the other way around.

![]() Good post Eccentricaa, I feel the same way and you have more or less summed up my thoughts exactly. The classic EQ on Live servers felt much more like a community; people helping each other out, adhering to 'unwritten' rules and respecting each other. Sure, there were some who stretched and broke the rules but these were usually resolved by the community, or in the more serious cases, GMs.
Likewise with your comment on discovery, grouping and solo'ers. Everyone grouped as there was safety in numbers. Occassionally people solo'ed but these were usually solo friendly classes such as druids, necros and mages, and more often than not they would join groups if they were available. I was on Xegony back in the really early days so multiboxing was rare, so there were no issues with spawn camping as you desribe it. I guess now everyone knows where things are, what spawns where, who drops what and where to get the best xp from. There's no point to adventure when you're actively on the treadmill. My main is only level 10 but I'm turned off by what I'm seeing as I level higher; even at level 10 there is spawn camping and stealing. I want to relive my old EQ experiences but I just don't feel the same here. I don't know... I feel so conflicted.

![]() THERE IS NOTHING CASUAL ABOUT EQ.
Period. Get. Over. It. It was called "EverCrack" for a reason. The damn game is like mainlining heroin. You don't just "dabble" in EQ.. It simply doesnt happen, just like you don't just "dabble" in crystal meth. You're in or you're not. If you honestly.. I mean it pains me to type this out... If you are seriously clueless to where all the happy go lucky tradeskillers, wedding planners, language learners, fishermen, questers, roleplayers, and god knows what else.... If you aren't quite grasping the concept of where they all are.. I'll go ahead and spell it out for you: THEY STOPPED PLAYING YEARS AGO. They didn't make the effort, expel needless time and energy finding EQClassic/EQEmu... Set up EMU forum accounts. Find this particular instance of a Classic Server Revival (that actually worked out).. They were the normal people. They let go. They had kids, they graduated college. They became teachers and scientists and senators and cashiers and whatever else. They moved on with their lives. The hundred or so hardcore people running this high-end of this server? Yeah, they aren't the people i listed in the previous paragraph. Make your own conclusions. But for the love of all that is holy, don't prance around on a message board whining about how the clueless 80% that wasn't competitive didn't make it to this incarnation of Everquest. Honestly, it was to be expected. I'm actually pretty pleased that over half the people i come into contact with on this server are cool as heck and fun to interact with. I feel like we're beating the odds in spite of it all. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] But seriously, it's a real simple math/logic equation. The casual fan base didnt survive Live EQ. It's not entirely shocking that they weren't maniacal enough about EQ to end up here. | ||

![]() Good post Bubbles.
And I don't feel like you have to be an asshole to newbies just by being hardcore (in response to Eccentricaa) I'd agree most of the assholes are hardcore, but there are also a lot of people who want to help newbies out and are willing to provide advice/assistance/platinum. To continue what Bubbles is saying, the mystery is gone. It's 10 years old. So you won't really get people coming on to explore an unknown world, but more of us are here to conquer it like we didn't the first time around when we were exploring. It's a different experience in a lot of ways for me. And you get what we had here last week. Which is the way he wants it... well he gets it. Nah, but you get hardcore guilds fighting to be the ones to get to conquer. There's some competition. Just the way it is. Not that it wasn't there in 99, but it'll definitely be visible to the casual now, since even the casual doesn't have a mysterious world to occupy him.

I did the languages (knew all langs on my necro), quests and ts'd quite a bit back then. The community is what made the game fun for me. ![]() I dunno, me and my play every night and despite whatever class we choose to play we ALWAYS group. People who run into us tend to be rather fun. Sometimes youll get a jerk now and then but for the most part people are nice, and Ilike to think those we play with are also left with a good impression [You must be logged in to view images.
