I've been answering this since beta. The short answer is no.

Before the server launched, I stated if there weren't enough individual players, then boxing would be considered.

Of the personal 'thank yous' I receive, the majority of them are thanking us for providing a place where boxing isn't allowed.

The only way it will be considered in the future is if there is a lack of players.
Much respect to ya nilbog. That said, I don't feel grateful for the prevention of boxing. Because I don't feel my EQ career was ever adversely affected by other players' boxing. However, I can still remember specific events where a powerleveled character was hogging mobs in particular zones; so it DID affect my game.

Think about it; two or three boxers will not even come close to consuming as many mobs as a PL'd character will. And considering lack of hunting spots is becoming a problem on this server, you might want to reconsider your priorities.

I don't like twinking either. If level 1s were meant to have an FBSS, they would drop off decaying skeletons.

I find it a ton of fun to give a level 1 a crapton of hp gear and a good weapon... =D

Boxing. Isnt that where two players go into a pvp area and turn on autoattack with no weapons in their hands? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You just came up with a reason boxing sucks (takes more mobs out of circulation for the people not boxing) and then found something that is possibly worse (twinks, which in my opinion are not as bad, and after level 12 will most likely be grouping with you anyways).

Just because you can find something else that sucks more than boxing, and only in one situation at that, doesn't mean shit.

Do you promise to follow me around anytime I'm in game to fulfill your duty? Maybe if we get good enough at moving in sync people will petition us for dual boxing.

Sure, as long as I am in group and get some of that exp. I play Saturday nights and sometimes early in the mornings. I can stand there and cast flame lick/snare until the mob kills me with the best of them.

Boxing isn't necessary with this kind of population. If we had 100-200ish at peak, and considering that the population dips to about 25% during true off-peak, it would be a viable proposal, although for some reason people seem to think that 2-boxing inherently destroys Everquest and leaves a smoldering crater littered with baby Jesus corpses. It absolutely has its place, just not on a server that peaks at almost 1000 players.

Right now, one of the biggest obstacles for many is the fact that everything's over-camped or empty. You either can't exp because every group is full and every mob within five miles is pulled the instant it spawns, or the dungeon is empty because people never stick around if they haven't got a group. The ability to 2-box might help a bit with the periodic emptiness as people wouldn't always just leave again when they don't see a group, but it would make matters much worse when it's the opposite and LGuk has 15-20 players in it. And as I understand it, there's enough trouble already with named spawns being nearly perma-camped by soloers and duos. However, the emptiness isn't caused by an insufficient playerbase but rather a combination of the fact that most people pick classes that can solo and that the concept of waiting for anything has been removed by the influence of modern MMORPGs.

Boxing should only be considered if the population gets so small that people routinely can't find others to play with and the zones that are meant to be busy are empty. The current numbers aren't even that far from a medium-sized live server anno 1999, and leveling gets pretty annoying in some zones because they're overcrowded.

Just read the other locked thread. Some claim that "lack of boxing" is some magic sauce that lures the masses to this server? Ya that must be it. It surely couldn't be that this is the ONLY classic server available...

If any of you anti-boxers care to satisfy my curiosity, please post if you have personally PL'd someone or been PL'd yourself. And I don't mean the occasional buff here or there. I suspect most (not all) of you anti-boxers twink heavily.
