Did you know later this old player's tale was used tongue-in-cheek by the developers (some of whom played back then) to decide on a name for 'Protection of the Cabbage'? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Bait Masterson was my favorite.

That is an interesting bit of lore, although I had never heard of the cabbage thing.

I also believed that one day I would figure out what all the different faction hits were for...

I remember people believing that gnomes ran faster than everyone else. I dont know how many times that it's just an optical illusion. And gnomes suck.

My biggest EQ superstition was the same as many others - if you didn't loot corpses, respawn would take longer. Many times I've found myself saying to the group, 'clear corpses!'

I always wanted to clear up corpses, and still do. It was a little bit about video performance, but it was mainly to keep the area clean and avoid annoying mistargets when trying to click on something.

I still do that... it still seems to help, lol. I'm sure in reality it doesn't.

I catch myself hitting for low numbers, then moving around a bit to face the mob from a different spot just to see if that fixed it. I know it doesnt really help, but the psychological fix is there...
