100 bucks to alpha test LANDMARK, it's not even EQN - sounds like some of you dont even realize that.

not to mention when they announced it back in august it was going to be released fully later this year, guess that isnt true since it says feb 28 when you look at the packages, march 31 for the $20 one which is only closed beta

I honestly have a hard time believing anyone spends money on this, access to an alpha which they are going to wipe, access to a closed beta which they will wipe

and none of it is even for the actual game, it's just fucking Landmark.

A few years ago I would gave agreed with you, but with the state of modern gaming I'm not surprised in the least. The complete and utter horseshit that is offered and that people will pay good money for knows no bounds these days. From the useless "collectors" crap that comes with special editions of games to the preorder nonsense. No bounds whatsoever.

My question is how is Gamestop going to get a piece of this action? Because if they aren't already they will figure out a way to. And keep the prices up while they continue to influence the dumbing down of games because they know what sells best and want to keep providing it and can swing that kind of weight in the industry.

When it comes to separating fools from their money PT Barnham and Walt Disney got nothin on the modtn gaming industry.

Gamestop will be selling the $20-$50 adventurer "starter pack" cards.

I don't get why anybody is shocked that a game has collector's editions/preorders. If it were a regular sub/purchase MMO you'd still have to pay $50-$60 to preorder and they generally throw in beta keys anyway.

Just because its going to be free you're appalled that they're offering paid preorder deals? Never go full retard.

Right, a separate game. A game that you can preorder to get perks and fluff, or just pay absolutely nothing and wait for open beta. Still don't see what the big deal is or how its any different from any MMO development in the past decade.
