This pretty much sums up the argument in this thread...

I don't know squat about the charmed pets and aggro transfer, but in EQ up to and including at least Velious (and I'm sure PoP, I just never interacted much with pet owners by then) pets couldn't hold aggro to save their lives. Even the infamous Velious bosses (with that absurd exponential aggro modifier for distance, and the exploits that came with it) wouldn't attack pets worth a damn. Being pretty much at any point above simply being "on the aggro list" would make you the target, including crap like bandaging a mage when the pet has already soloed a mob down to 50%.

Since pet taunt "worked" as much as taunt ever worked, I'm assuming they had a gigantic -% modifier to aggro generation (as opposed to a -% modifier to their current aggro value).

Well since I can't edit and forgot to mention it...

Charmed pets clearly acted differently, as the Frozen Jesus could attest.

Lol at the respect stuff

Anyways,

It could be true that pet aggro generation was considerably lower than a players, or maybe even split between the pet and it's owner. Thoughts?

Within the context of that fight, it wouldn't matter for a number of reasons. Not sure if you are trying to make a general change or one tailored to that specific mob.

I recall pets being able to tank for players as long as they could output more threat, I believe this was changed during velious when the strat for farming some quest mob or event at the SG zone of WW involved using a single summoned pet to tank. I am too lazy to check the vintage patch notes from that era to confirm though. For some reason I also think the reason for using a pet to tank was that healing a pet generated no agro to the cleric, which is also different from here.

Necro lifetap over time spells generate ridiculous amounts of hate on p99, and very frontloaded, whereas on live they behaved more like ignite blood in terms of agro. The heal portion of it was threat, but not like you heal yourself for the full amount the moment the spell lands whether you lack hp or not. That tidbit probably belongs in bugs, but as mentioned above I am lazy.

This is true. In classic your pets could tank for you if they provided more aggro.

Earth pets tanking in groups was NOT uncommon. Warriors had shit aggro and weren't able to pull aggro from mage pets.

It wasn't changed until pretty damned late on live and was never "fixed" here to be classic.

and hi supreme cool that you're working so hard on releasing your own server of 11 year old content.

I had a dream that trans was wiping to a dragon...

vox...

in a cave...

Then I woke up and realized everyone wins on supreme's candyland.

So cool to trivialize 9, 10, 11 year old content!
