As many have said, it depends on what you want to do end-game.
Wizards arent terribly good until you are very high level, though once you get past level 20 it's not so bad. Provided you are wise in picking your targets you will kill things very quickly, but the downtime is quite long. This can actually be quite a positive thing, set a timer on your phone and work on chores/projects/shows/book between pulls. | ||

Dokt. Go paladin, obviously.
Otherwise, my experience with a wizard has been pretty excellent so far. Get some jboots and you can quad starting at level 8. As others have said, have a nice afk activity waiting for you that you can do for eight out of every ten minutes and you'll enjoy it.
