It was only a matter of time before some intellectual trotted out the old saw, "White people stole black music."

Did Darius Rucker steal country? Did Sublime steal dub/reggae? Eminem stole rap too I guess.

Can an individual like a sound enough to make it their own? Or is it the property of white or black culture because one or the other performed it first? Songs can be and have been stolen, but music can't.

Stupid non-debate founded on a stupid non-premise.

I think Darrius Rucker is guilty of far, far worse sins than stealing a genre of music.
